I am SO interested in playing rugby. My brothers girlfriend played and she LOVED IT! She said she would really love me to get into it. I am that that big of a girl, I am kind of petite. Sort of. Should l play?

Rugby is a great game that doesnt really have a build type in mind for the typical player. From ur picture l very much doubt u would make any ground as a Prop, 2nd Row or even in the forwards to be fair. but scrum halfs r usually fairly small, little terriers that have to be nippy. the position is tactical rather than brutal. l do not know too much about women is rugby, but a hooker doesnt have to be the biggest player in the scrum by any means & neither do the flankers. though height is a factor for the flankers. Wings have to be quick. the best English wings over the last 20 odd years have all been short with the one exception of Ben Cohen. likewise, fullback can be small(ish) but still needs to stand up & be counted. this is the over riding factor. every player has to play their part, no fear, all commitment.

As has already been said, rugby has various positions for various builds. In women is rugby u can get away with being smaller if u can be more tenacious & aggressive than ur opponents. Most women is teams at the high school & college level in the US (with the possible exception of Div l college) r not yet at a high enough level where ur size will kill you.
Just for comparison, l play flanker & l weigh 115-117 lbs (52-53kg) & am about 5'4'' so l am by no means big (and almost always outmatched in terms of size) but l can still lay the hits in, break tackles, & drive people back using good form & aggression.

l say, go for it. Play for a season & decide afterwards. After a season of play u should have the basic idea of what happens in a game & an understanding of what it takes to play & then u can decide whether u like it or not. Good luck!

Only Rugby League. Union is crap.

Rugby is a great team sport and is really fun. You get really good in your strength abilities and get really fit. You wont get killed. you only really get hurt in Rugby if you do something stupid. but if you follow the rules, you will do fine.
