If so, l wanted to know what the similarities are. At the moment, I am going to play ten-a-side because l have not found any 15 is clubs yet, so I am having a go at second row, since l find it closest to an openside flanker.
So l wanted to are there any similarities in their roles and can being a lock in 10 is prepare me to play flanker in the 15's. In 10 is just so l can be a better player, can l take up the a few roles of an openside? (Like being a backup runner to the flyhalf or forcing turnovers if I am the first to a ruck)
I've watched been watching Richie McCaw play for 2 years, and he is inspired me a lot.
l know each position has it is own role to play, and l should not be concentrating on a position I've yet to play, but since it is 10 is can l try playing a few roles of a flanker.
I've got height, medium weight and plenty of speed to balance it out, and I am 13. Thanks.

The tight 5 are the only forwards, only one winger and no fullback. So the numbers are -
1 & 3- Prop
2- Hooker
4 & 5 - Lock
6 - Scrum half
7 - Fly Half
8 and 9 - Centres
10 - Winger

And the rules are from union, but with only with ten players. It is a bit like sevens, but has a mix of 7 is and 15 is rugby

Speed to the Breakdown is important for both flankers & locks & doing what l know as (blowing over the ruck) basically pushing back the opposition so ur halfback can get the ball as quick as possible. Just remember to stay on ur feet. Also any team loves to have another option come line out time. If u watch the All Blacks they use McCaw, Kaino etc just as much as Ali & Brad. Dont focus to much on being a back up runner to the flyhalf or as a third centre, every game is different so worry about that come game time, & u have a game plan sorted out for ur oposition.

Depends what league u r in. But yes, they do have their similarities. Firstly, both of these positions r likely to get lifted & jump in the line out. Some comps have big people like props as locks. Other comps have skinnier locks like flankers. Getting to the rucks/mauls is important in both positions too. They both get there rather fast. Another similarity between the two is they both have a habit of targeting the fly half.(again this is depending on the comp)

l am not really sure on how tens works. But if there r no flanker positions & only lock in the forwards, l suggest u try somewhere in the backs. Overall, the flanker positions r more like the backs, in the way they run. Some say that flankers & number 8s r the backs of the forwards.

edit: l would try Centre. Looks like the best position for you. But if u r more into rucking & mauling, then try lock. Just depends if u like ball handling more or roughness more.
